Donation of sanitary towels helps pupils

There is always a great need for sanitary towels in rural schools.

To celebrate Women’s Day, Acacia donated sanitary towels to two schools situated close to the Umbogintwini Industrial Complex on Friday, 19 August.

“We decided to donate towels to Zuzumqhele High School and Novunywa Senior Primary instead of spoiling our female employees like we have done in previous years,” said Acacia’s Nomali Msomi.

“There is always a great need for sanitary towels in rural schools and a lack of them can impact negatively on the girls because sometimes they have to stay away from school during their monthly period.

The principal of Novunywa Senior Primary, Bheki Mhlongo was pleased with our donation as he said this will restore dignity to young girls who sometimes are too ashamed to come to school and it’s often a problem if that time of the month happens during school hours.”

To prevent this, Acacia left some sanitary towels at the principals’ offices as a contingency and it was explained to the girls that they are free to go to the office at any time and ask for them.
