St Wins resident stabbed in burglary

The gang fled with laptops, a wallet, cash and a cellphone.

A ST Winifreds resident was brutally stabbed during an armed robbery in the early hours of Monday morning, 1 August.

Blue Security operations manager, Brian Jackson said a gang of three armed robbers had broken into the resident’s home in Dimple Lea Road just after 3am.

“They smashed a bedroom window to gain entry and proceeded to brutally attack the resident who they stabbed repeatedly in the back, shoulder and arm. The gang fled with laptops, a wallet, cash and a cellphone,” he said.

“Paramedics attended the scene to attend to the victim who sustained at least six stab wounds,” he said.

Amanzimtoti SAPS also attended the scene of the crime.

Jackson advised residents to consider installing external beams and an electric fence for an early warning system to reduce the element of surprise that criminals rely on when committing house robberies.

“Ideally, you want to be forewarned that someone is on your property before they even get the chance to approach your house to break in,” he said.
