CCPO calls special meeting to ‘clarify decisions’

Public urged to attend civic-funded crime network’s public meeting

THE Community Crime Prevention Organisation has scheduled a special general meeting of members, with a view to clarifying decisions it has made in recent months.

“Over the past few months, various statements were made on social media and in the South Coast Sun regarding the CCPO and its operations,” reads a statement released by CCPO director/treasurer, Louise Marais.

The directors and management committee have decided to call a special general meeting of members, to inform members of the reasons behind recent committee decisions. Members will be given an opportunity to ask questions. The meeting takes place on Tuesday, 30 August at 6pm.

The committee also sought to clarify that the guarding contract which was in place was terminated due to the service provider not having the required PSIRA registration and other legal compliance requirements necessitated by law. Alternative management of the guarding section of the operations has been secured.

“In addition, the resignation of the operations manager will not affect running of the CCPO as we have a highly dedicated team of operational men at the helm namely George Ross, George Snodey, Robbie Mills and Paul O’ Niel. Rupert Smit, senior CCPO supervisor who worked closely with Leon Joone, will be responsible for operations going forward.”
