Bakkie rolls off drenched N2 into coastal bush

Two passengers hospitalised while driver escapes uninjured

Paramedics had their hands full dealing with emergencies and accidents as a result of the thunderstorm last night, Monday 25 July.

On the N2 northbound at about 7pm, Netcare 911 responded to an accident scene on the northbound carriageway of the N2, about a kilometre before the Doonside off-ramp where a bakkie had ploughed into the dense coastal bush.

It is understood the bakkie driver lost control in the heavy downpour and the vehicle rolled into the bush for about 50m.

Bits of canopy and other debris littered the roadway.

Of the three people in the front of the bakkie, only the driver escaped injury. His two passengers were slightly injured. The injured passengers were transported to hospital.
