Dutch volunteers lend a helping hand at Hospice

The volunteers go out with the Hospice nurses to help treat patients

THREE Dutch visitors chose Khanya Hospice as the recipient of their 67 minutes for Mandela Day on Monday, 18 July.

“The three volunteers from The Netherlands – Inge Geuskens of Maastricht, Sara Timmermans of Walem near Valkenburg, who are both qualified nurses, and Natascha Zoon, a fifth year medical student – chose Khanya Hospice as their place of giving back to others and to the community, as per the late Nelson Mandela’s wishes,” said Khanya Hospice CEO, Neil McDonald.

“They have opted to volunteer at Khanya Hospice because of the kind of work we do. They will only be in South Africa for three weeks and we thank them for their kind gesture and the help they offered to Hospice patients and their families.”

The volunteers go out with the Hospice nurses to help treat patients and ensure they have the right medication.
