IN the run up to the municipal elections, many people, especially the business community, feel a level of uncertainty of the impact it might have on the economic environment after the elections.

“In the wake of the Brexit events and effects that had on the economy in South Africa and worldwide, business people are nervous,” said Durban South Business Forum (DSBF) president, Aart Verrips.

DSBF has invited well-known political and economic analyst, Theo Venter of North West University (NWU) to address the business community and other interested parties on the subject ‘national economic overview after the elections’.

Venter is a political and policy specialist at the NWU School of Business and Governance and special adviser to the vice-chancellor of the NWU on a part-time basis. In this capacity, he advises on politics and strategy. He is also a political commentator on South African politics in the media, especially on radio and TV for the last 30 years.

The address takes place on Monday, 25 July at 6.30pm for 7pm at Toti Brewing Company at Illovo Business Park. To get there, take the R603 inland towards Umbumbulu. Pass the Engen Garage on Uitsig Road and the caravan park, then turn left towards Lower Illovo. About 100m before the steel bridge are two blue factories on the left.
