Shoe display stands land duo in hot water

Two suspicious-looking men ... carrying two sealed boxes

TWO thieves were arrested with their stolen booty by SAPS members on Monday morning, 18 July.

“W/O Nkosi Meyiwa and Cst Stefan O’Connell, attached to the Umlazi K9 unit, were patrolling Moss Kolnick Road at about 9.30am when they noticed two suspicious-looking men walking in the direction of KwaMakhutha, carrying two sealed boxes,” said Toti SAPS communication officer, Captain Charlene van der Spuy.

“They approached them, enquiring about the sealed boxes. The suspects alleged they had picked up the boxes in the bushes next to Galleria Mall.

When the members opened the sealed boxes, they found the contents to be brand-new shoe display stands.”

After further investigation at the mall, it was found one of the shops has a storage unit where they keep the same stock.

The boxes with contents were identified to be of the same stock belonging to the store, with an estimated value of R10,000.

The men were arrested and taken to Amanzimtoti police station, where they were charged with possession of stolen property.
