Former butcher will be missed

He is survived by his wife, three children and five grandchildren

FORMER Toti butcher Frans van der Merwe died on Tuesday, 5 July.

Frans had worked at Athlone Park Pick n Pay, Seadoone Butchery and Kwikspar in Warner Beach before his retirement.

“My father-in-law made many people’s days a bit brighter with his jokes, laughter and free dry wors,” said his daughter-in-law Kelly. “He will be sorely missed by those who knew his happy, cheerful self.”

Frans was born in 1950 in Pietermaritzburg and lived in Toti for about 60 years

“He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, rugby and braais. He also had a passion for motorbikes,” said Kelly.

Frans returned to Pietermaritzburg two years ago for his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, three children and five grandchildren. A small, private memorial was held in Pietermaritzburg.
