Barefoot copper thief collared within minutes

He was caught in possession of the stolen pipes

A COPPER thief was caught by response officers attempting to sell his stolen booty at a scrapyard in Isipingo Rail on Monday, 11 July.

“A Barracuda Drive resident awoke to find the patio chairs and copper pipes on his property in Isipingo Beach had been cut and stolen by suspected whoonga addicts in the early hours of Monday morning,” said Alpha Alarms communications officer, Krishnee Naidoo.

“The resident contacted our control room and on arrival, armed response officers discovered one of the thieves had left his shoes behind when he jumped over the wall in his haste to escape.”

After tracking him, one of the thieves was apprehended within minutes. He was caught in possession of the stolen pipes and handed over to SAPS.
