Isipingo resident fatally stabbed when confronting thief

The suspect is still on the loose

AN ISIPINGO Beach resident was fatally stabbed after he intervened during an attempted house break-in in Dick King Avenue on Friday afternoon, 8 July.

Cliff Naidoo (49) spotted a man breaking into a flat below his premises.

He alerted the thief to his presence and chased him. Naidoo pursued him into a nearby lane, when the thief turned around and stabbed him in the chest, before he escaped through nearby bushes.

Passersby attempted to assist the victim and he was rushed to hospital.

“Armed response officers searched the area for the suspect, but he was not found,” said Alpha Alarms communications officer, Krishnee Naidoo. “The same man is believed to have terrorised community members, especially women in the area over the past week.”

He is believed to be either coloured or Indian and was last seen wearing white pants and a black shirt, and carrying a black backpack.

He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be confronted. If seen, contact Alpha Alarms on 031-902-6666 or SAPS on 031-913-3410.
