Critically hurt motorist cut free from crash wreckage

Firefighters and medics worked for almost an hour to extricate him

TWO people were seriously injured when a two ton bakkie collided head-on with another vehicle on the Mfume Road near Umgababa on Tuesday evening, 12 July.

“Reports from the scene indicate the other vehicle left the scene before our arrival,” said Netcare 911 media liaison, Chris Botha.

“Paramedics found one person with serious injuries and one with life-threatening injuries.”

The critically injured man was still trapped in the twisted frame of the bakkie. Firefighters and medics worked for almost an hour to extricate him.

The injured were stabilised at the scene and transported to a hospital in Umlazi.
