Tow effort ends in bakkie overturning on N2

Injured woman passenger treated and transported to hospital

A tow effort went awry when the lead vehicle lost control and overturned on the N2 northbound between Winklespruit and Doonside at about 4.50pm on Saturday afternoon (9 July).

Netcare 911 paramedics established that the bakkie was towing another vehicle with a solid bar when things went wrong and the lead vehicle lost control and overturned.

Paramedics found the crumpled remains of the bakkie had come to rest on its side in the breakdown lane of the N2. The occupants of both vehicles were found sitting on the embankment. Among them was a woman passenger who sustained moderate injuries.

Medics treated her at the scene before transporting her to an Umlazi hospital for further treatment.
