Voigts bid farewell to Toti after 50 years

We will miss everything about Toti, especially the people

ADRIENNE (80) and Dawie Voigt (82) of Illovo Beach will relocate to Vanderbijlpark in Gauteng at the end of July after 50 years in Toti.

Adrienne is a dress designer who has probably made half of Toti bride’s dresses over the years, and she taught pattern drafting in the area for many years. “I must have dressed half of Toti over the years, that’s for sure,” she agreed. “I also made countless drummies outfits for the various schools and designed Warner Beach Prep’s school uniform about eight years ago.”

Adrienne will not pack away her sewing equipment and put her feet up though after the move, but will continue her passion in her new home to keep busy. The bonus is they will be living a mere two kilometres from their daughter Brenda.

Adrienne met Dawie in Potchefstroom in 1958, where she did her schooling at Potchefstroom Girls’ High. Dawie was born in Wolmaranstad and was working in Potchefstroom when they met.

We have seen many people come and go and we have made lots of friends in Toti.

They were soon married and had four children – Darene, Russell, Ivan and Brenda.

“We will miss everything about Toti, especially the people,” said Dawie. “As members of the Methodist Church since 1966 and avid gym goers, we have seen many people come and go and we have made lots of friends in Toti.”
