Sponsor treats for memorable holiday

This will be the first time most of these children will see the beach

THE Toti public can contribute to make a holiday trip a memorable one for a group of traumatised children.

The Louis Botha Children’s Home is a non-profit organisation that cares for the welfare of 97 children between the ages of six and 18 years.

“The children are referred by a commissioner of child welfare to the children’s home due to poverty, cognitive disability, abandonment, neglect or emotional abuse,” said housemother, Grieta Gelderman.

“We strive to dismiss the developmental hindrances that the children we care for have experienced and to introduce them to a wide range of opportunities, to develop their skills and aid them to reach their full potential.

Most children can describe how the ocean feels or the excitement of going on holiday, but unfortunately many of these children have not yet had the privilege of having these amazing, yet basic experiences.”

The plan is to spoil 12 children from the home and two accompanying adults with a fun-filled adventure in Toti from 30 June to 7 July during the school holidays.

Happy Days Holiday Flats has offered them discounted accommodation for their stay and requests assistance from the Toti public to spoil the children.

“We would like to arrange something special for them as their budget does not allow for any activities other than their accommodation and travel expenses,” said manager, Louise Oosthuysen. “This will be the first time most of these children will see the beach and we want to make it as memorable a trip as possible for them.

Epic Karting, Splash Waterworld, Toti beach management, Giselle’s Kitchen and Cooee have already come on board. Any donations or vouchers towards treats, meals or activities will be greatly appreciated.”
