THE Upper South Coast Art Association (USCAA) will hold its June meeting in the activities hall of Amanzimtoti library on 18 June at 2pm. This will be preceded by a drawing session which is open to the public at no charge, except for refreshments.

The drawing session will be conducted by Delyse Ramos. She will teach blended shading for portraits.

Artists should take along their usual supplies and paper.

They will specifically need: 2B, 4B and 6B pencils; a ruler; a torchon (paper blending stick) which is available at good stationery stores (if you don’t have a torchon, you can use tissues to blend the shading; if you are going to work on cardboard or coloured paper, you will also need a white pastel or white conte crayon for the highlights.

Delyse will supply photos of the portraits.

The drawing session starts at 9am and ends at about noon.

The afternoon session starting at 1.30pm and ending at about 4pm comprises the monthly meeting of USCAA followed by a demonstration by Nichole Pletts, an abstract contemporary artist from Durban. She has been involved with the KZNSA Gallery for many years and is well known. USCAA is lucky to have such an artist prepared to show everyone her vision. There is a small fee for refreshments. Members are encouraged to attend and learn from an expert.
