Challenge issued for Tekkie Tax Day

It's National Tekkie Tax Day on Friday, 27 May.

A Toti company has thrown its weight behind National Tekkie Tax Day on Friday, 27 May and challenges other companies to follow suit.

“It’s National Tekkie Tax Day on 27 May and we would love everyone to show their support,” said CANSA community mobiliser for Durban and South Coast, Robyn Briggs.

RBI Tech, situated in Lower Illovo, has donated R5,000 towards the cause and challenges the rest of the community to do the same.

“We are very active in the community and very passionate about supporting charities and organisations and giving back to less fortunate individuals,” said owner Aart Verrips.

Aart’s daughter Louise became ill and was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2015. After months of chemo treatment, she has made a full recovery and is now cancer-free.

“Because this is so close to my heart, I encourage the community, businesses and schools to get involved and show their support. We are supporting Tekkie Tax Day and so should you.”

To participate is simple and fun – get a pair of funky shoelaces called ‘tekkie tags’ with a sticker included and spiff up the tekkies you choose to wear on National Tekkie Tax Day. There are five different stickers, each representing a beneficiary sector. Choose which of the five sectors you would like to support when buying your tekkie tags and stickers. Remember you may choose more than one.

To purchase your tags and stickers, email Robyn at rbriggs@cansa.org.za or Whatsapp her on 082-497-2985.
