Campaign cyclist passes through Toti

What makes Lukas' trip even more remarkable is doctors said he would never walk again.

A man who is attempting to cycle 3,000km around Southern Africa passed through Toti on Tuesday, 19 April.

Lukas Korff is riding a tandem bike, standing all the way from the Mozambican border along the coast to the Namibian border.

“I Stand for Jesus is a campaign that started on 1 April where I cycle standing up to inspire youth to stand, and on a tandem to show that all things are possible if you take Jesus along,” said Lukas, who does daily trips of between 15km and 30km on his way to the Wild Coast, Cape Town and Namibia.

He is accompanied on his trips by a pace vehicle with his wife Shan and two children Zione (4) and Luka (1) for company.

“I speak at schools at every opportunity and I will attempt to reach 1,000 schools with this message where we will send children a gift voucher for an identity audio Bible which is a compilation of messages to challenge values to make a change in their lives.”

What makes Lukas’ trip even more remarkable is doctors said he would never walk again after a horrific car accident 28 years ago.

“After my accident, I had an encounter God and I said, “If You heal me, I will speak of you all the days of my life and stand for You”. God did and I kept my word and I have been preaching since then.”

Lukas has also set 14 world records along the way, including a Guinness World Record, for various dares he has taken up. “A 12-year-old boy dared me to do the Cape Argus without a saddle or pole on the bike.” Other records are for various golf or boxing challenges he has taken up. “I take the dares as they come.”

Every comment on the page for ‘I Stand For Jesus’ will equate to one audio Bible being sponsored for a child in SA. Go to www.istandforjesus.com and follow the link.

Lukas will return to Toti to speak at Amanzimtoti High School on Tuesday morning, 26 April.
