Last chance to register to vote

Residents can confirm whether they are indeed registered or correctly registered by sending an SMS with their identity number to 32810.

The weekend of 9 and 10 April from 8am to 5pm signals the final registration opportunity to vote in the 2016 Local Government Elections (LGE).

“While the exact election date is yet to be announced and despite the Independent Electoral Commission being locked in discussion with the Constitutional Court regarding the Thlokwe decision that calls for an address confirmation against all residents on the voters roll, preparations for LGE 2016 are going ahead,” said ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge.

Residents are urged to confirm whether they are indeed registered or correctly registered by sending an SMS with their identity number to 32810 (at a cost of R1 per SMS) or to find out more by visiting www.elections.org.za.

Voting stations in the larger Amanzimtoti area are:

Ward 97 –

Ward 93

“It is recommended that residents take the time to have their credentials checked at their voting station during the weekend to make sure they do reflect correctly on the voters roll. Rather be safe than sorry,” said Cllr Beetge.
