The CPF took the opportunity to introduce the new station commander to the assembled residents.

“We highlighted the initiative from the CPF which is concerned with drug awareness, crime related issues, prostitutes, drug addicts, vagrants from Central Durban and all other opportunities that makes us vulnerable to crime and we engaged the community to come up with solutions to combat crime.

CCPO chairman, George Lithgow addressed the meeting on the positives of forming Urban Improvement Precincts in Toti. Hopefully this triggered interest and could become one of the initiatives that will combat crime in our area.”

The Toti community were also given the opportunity to get some answers about their concerns regarding the operations of Toti SAPS at the meeting. “They were able to participate in a dialogue and come up with a solution to move forward as a partnership with all law enforcement to fight crime,” said Mncibi.

“From input received at the meeting, we have drafted a memorandum of understanding that will be handed over to the minister of police, provincial commissioner, MEC of community safety and liaison and other stakeholders who will assist to fight crime in our area. This will take place after the peaceful walk as part of the #crimemustfall campaign, which will start from Toti CBD at 9am and conclude at Hutchison Park at 11am.

We urge the community that is serviced by Toti SAPS to take part in this peaceful walk.”
