A TOTI motorist had the fright of his life on Tuesday morning, 8 March when he came face-to-face with a deadly 1,5-metre green mamba in the engine compartment of his truck.
“We received a call from our client, Kingsburgh Shopping Centre regarding a commotion in the car park,” said ET Rapid Response South Coast managing member, Tony Lokker.
“When we arrived, we saw the Kings Hardware truck had a snake that had embedded itself in the inside of the engine compartment. We identified the snake as a green mamba.”
Fortunately Tony has many years’ experience in dealing with snakes from his five years at the Durban beachfront snake park.
I’ve also kept snakes for many years,”he said.
He managed to dislodge and capture the reptile, before releasing the slithering hitch-hiker in a safe area.
