Teen cable thief cut short in Isipingo Rail

He was instructed by a friend to steal the cables.

A teenage cable thief was caught by two guards at a residential complex in Alexandra Avenue in Isipingo Rail on Saturday, 20 February at about 9am.

“The guards noticed the teen jump over the wall and called the response unit for back-up,” said Alpha Alarms communications officer, Krishnee Naidoo.

“The response team was told by the guards that the minor had cut about six metres of electricity cable. While rolling the cable, the two guards pounced on him.”

They handed him over to SAPS.

“The teen told response officers he is 14-years-old and was instructed by a friend to steal the cables.”
