Workshop feeds nutritional message to ECD staff

The workshop was funded by AECI.

Kingsburgh Child Welfare held a nutrition workshop at its offices in Warner Beach on Tuesday, 16 February.

Kingsburgh Clinic nutritional advisor, Sister Dudu Cele spoke to creche and day care centre staff on the importance of providing a balanced and nutritional meal to their young charges.

The workshop was funded by AECI.

“The protection of children is of paramount importance to Child Welfare. Our mandate is family preservation, which entails ensuring the best positive care for the children in our community,” said Kingsburgh Child Welfare chairman, Jenny Smith.

“Children in our community attend day care centres and therefore it is important that ECD centres provide education and care to children in the temporary absence of their parents or adult caregivers.

These services should be holistic and demonstrate the appreciation of the importance of considering the child’s health nutrition, education, psycho-social and other needs within the context of the family and community.”

Information provided to candidates at the workshop will assist them to provide the best economical and nutritious meals to the children in their care.
