Donate water at post office

Toti Post Office in Bjorseth Cresent is a drop-off point.

Toti residents who want to extend a helping hand to the drought-stricken areas of South Africa need go no further than a post office.

The humanitarian organisation Gift of the Givers and the SA Post Office have joined forces to bring relief to drought disaster areas.

The most prominent post offices in urban areas have been identified as drop-off points for sealed five-litre plastic containers of water where members of the public can leave as many as they wish.

Toti Post Office in Bjorseth Cresent is a drop-off point for the donation programme which runs for February.

Donors can click on www.postoffice.co.za to see the list of post offices where this can be done, or visit their nearest post office to enquire.

Gift of the Givers will distribute the bottles of water as part of their programme to deliver drinking water to the areas worst affected by the drought which, according to the South African Weather Services, is the worst to hit the country since 1982.

The government has declared five of South Africa’s nine provinces drought disaster areas and there is a dire need for drinkable water, particularly in rural areas.

A donation may also be paid into Gift of the Givers’ Postbank account number: 00102819456, branch code: 460005.
