PHOTOS: Four die as taxis crash

One taxi veered off the road, crashed through palisade fencing and slammed into pedestrians.

The crumbled remains of the taxi that smashed through a palisade fence and killed four people.

Four people died and several others were injured when two taxis collided on Old Main Road in Isipingo just after 6am on Wednesday, 17 February.

According to Netcare 911 media liasion officer, Chris Botha, several services responded to the crash.

“After the collision, one taxi veered off the road, crashed through palisade fencing and slammed into pedestrians,” said Botha.

“Paramedics found that four people had tragically died before our arrival. The injured were treated before they were transported to various hospitals.”
