Hospice welcomes Irish volunteers

If you have time to help in the Hospice shop, contact Sarie on 031-903-3408.

Khanya Hospice welcomes volunteers from Ireland, Johnathan Clarke and Natalie Garland to the South Coast.

Hailing from Belfast, Johnathan, a qualified pharmacist and Natalie, a social worker have offered to volunteer at Hospice for two months.

“Johnathan was here four years ago with four of his friends, who were still studying at that time. He has since qualified,” said Khanya Hospice CEO, Neil McDonald.

“They are passionate about the work that Hospice is doing in the area and with their contribution, they will try to help make a difference in the lives of people that they have never seen nor met.

They are enjoying the Durban summer weather while their friends and family in Belfast are experiencing winter’s temperatures.

Everyone has welcomed them with opened arms and they have had some good South African experiences, including sampling a bunny chow, and they have seen how the other half lives,” said Neil.

Anyone wanting to make a donation to Hospice of clothes or whatever you have to give away, call 039-973-1783 or 083-597-8985 or email hospice@scottnet.co.za.

Khanya Hospice’s charity shop in Southway Mall in Toti is looking for volunteers that will be able to spend a morning or afternoon helping in the shop.

“We need people to help the manager receive and unpack donated goods,” said Neil.

“Volunteers will need to clean items that needs cleaning. Once priced, volunteers can put items up for display on the shelves or clothes on the hangers and rails.”

The shop needs hands, so if you have some time at hand, contact Sarie on 031-903-3408.
