EDITOR – I noted the letter in last week’s Sun referring to Kingsburgh library.
My recent visits to the library have also been disappointing.

At one time the dustbin supplied by the council was overflowing with refuse, litter lay about, with bits of paper blowing in the wind. On yet another occasion I found the security guard fast asleep in the easy chair at the table where newspapers are placed for members to read.
At the table with the computer on, two women were sitting, talking loudly while consuming what appeared to be greasy morsels laid out on a piece of greaseproof paper. On the floor near the counter, a young girl in school uniform was sitting on the floor, enjoying what I presumed was her lunch. During the entire time that I was browsing and selecting my books, I was aware of loud laughing and talking by the librarians.
It would appear as though the clean, quiet and peaceful atmosphere of the library that I knew has disappeared.
