The red Hyundai i10 with an NUZ registration number was stolen from an off-duty policeman as he was parked and waiting for his girlfriend to complete her shift at the hospital in Kingsway last night at about 7:30pm. The motorist was shot in the leg when he resisted his three assailants and fought back.

According to a post on the ‘Police pics and clips’ Facebook page, the tracking device on the vehicle activated this morning. The signal led a local member of a security company to Marianhill.
The vehicle was seen being driven around and during the attempt to stop it, a shoot-out occurred in which the suspect was seriously injured.
