Netcare 911 paramedics responded to the shooting, which took place outside the hospital on Kingsway. According to Netcare 911’s Chris Botha, a paramedic on his way to work noticed a scuffle in which three men were trying to pull a man out of his parked vehicle. The medic ran to alert the security when he heard a shot ring out. When he looked around, he noticed the men pulling the driver from his vehicle.
Within seconds, the ambulance crews raced out and found the man lying in the roadway with a serious gunshot wound. His vehicle and the suspects had left the scene. Medics worked fervently to stabilise the seriously wounded man before they transported him to a provincial hospital.
