Residents see red over PO box removal

Alternative arrangements can be made for delivery to street addresses by calling Audrey on 031-903-7572.

Doonside residents are up in arms over the removal of the Doonside postboxes.

The SA Post Office has confirmed that the post boxes, previously located along Main Road, have been closed.

“We paid our account for our post box in December and then they were taken away without any warning,” said Doonside resident, John Hamilton. “The first time I had any idea they were planning to discontinue them was when I saw the guy removing them in December.

When I spoke to the supervisor, she said we would have to get a new name and postal address and use the boxes at Seadoone Mall. We have used the Doonside postboxes for 43 years. This is stupid. This is no way to run a business.

I would rather get my post delivered to my street address.”

It is recommended that residents apply for new postboxes at the Seadoone post office – locks can be obtained from the Amanzimtoti post office.

Post can be collected from Amanzimtoti post office Monday to Friday from 7am to 3.30pm. Alternative arrangements can be made for delivery to street addresses by calling Audrey on 031-903-7572.
