Combined forces net burglars

The alarm was raised after the Nyoni Crescent home owner spotted the two jumping over his wall.

A combined effort from the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO), Blue Security, ET Rapid Response, SAPS bikers, Chubb Security and CCPO volunteers saw two housebreakers were apprehended near Kingsway High School on Monday, 25 January.

According to CCPO operations manager, Leon Joone, the alarm was raised after the Nyoni Crescent home owner phoned the CCPO offices after spotting the two jumping over his wall.

“The office contacted me and when I radioed for help, everyone responded within minutes,” he said.

A CCPO guard and Blue Security response officer apprehended one robber after he fled across the N2 highway, while an ET officer apprehended the second in the vicinity of the school.

“He was flushed out the bushes after everyone jammed him in and he had no way out,” said Leon.

The same residence was burglared last week and it is believed the two robbers were returning for goods they didn’t take the first time.

They were arrested and detained at Toti SAPS.

“If the public sees anything suspicious, they must report it. Thanks to everyone for the quick response and working together to apprehend these robbers.”

In a separate, unrelated incident, a green and white BMX bicycle was recovered by the CCPO on Somerset Road in Warner Beach on Sunday morning, 24 January at about 5am. It has been handed in at Toti SAPS.
