Elderly couple hurt in crash

The two patients were stabilised before they were transported to a nearby hospital.

An elderly woman sustained critical injuries while her husband escaped with minor injuries in a side impact collision at the intersection of Kingsway and Umdoni Road at about 10.30am on Monday morning, 25 January.

“Paramedics found the wreckage of a bakkie and a car obstructing the intersection,” said Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Chris Botha.

“The injured were removed from the wreckages and placed at the roadside. Under the care of advanced life support paramedics, the two patients were stabilised before they were transported to a nearby hospital.”

Exact details to the cause of the crash will be investigated by the police.
