Police make arrests in joint operation

Nine people were arrested for various offences.

TOTI SAPS held a successful joint operation with RTI Winklespruit, Metro Police, Customs and Excise and Department of Home Affairs and Immigration on Wednesday, 16 December.

“Roadblocks were held on the north and south bound lanes of the N2, where 126 vehicles were stopped and checked for traffic-related offences.
Members were also posted at Pipeline beach, Amanzimtoti main beach and Galleria Mall conducting foot patrols, visibility and vehicle patrols. Police also monitored an event at Pipeline beach,” said Toti SAPS communications officer, Capt Charlene van der Spuy.

A number of arrests were made on the day. Three warrants of arrest were executed for traffic-related offences. One person was arrested for dealing in liquor, two for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, three for breach of peace and 18 traffic-related fines were issued.

Recoveries included six 750ml bottles of liqour; a knife; knobkerrie and axe.
