Caution over car thieves in complexes

It appears the thieves prefer SUVs

TOTI motorists are urged to heed the Community Crime Prevention Organisation’s (CCPO) warning that cars parked in complexes are being targeted by thieves this December.
In the last two weeks, the CCPO has noted about five instances of theft or attempted thefts of vehicles from complexes.
During this last weekend, two vehicles were stolen from a Wavecrest Road, Athlone Park complex.
It appears the thieves prefer SUVs, as these have been specifically targeted.

The CCPO urges body corporates and complex managers to ensure their access gates cannot be derailed, either by installing a motor alarm or some other method, to ensure thieves cannot gain access nor remove the gate to drive off with their bounty.
