Murder accused netted seven months later

He stabbed the victim who was on his way to a shop.

ON Thursday, 26 November, KwaMakhutha police arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with a murder which occurred seven months ago, after they received information on his whereabouts.

“On 12 April, the victim Mondli Mthembu (25) was on his way to a nearby shop in A-section, Illovu, near KwaMakhutha when the suspect approached him. It is alleged he demanded cash from the victim, who replied he had none. The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim and he was rushed to hospital, where he later died of his injuries,” said provincial police spokesman, Lt Nqobile Gwala.

A case of murder was opened at KwaMakhutha police station for further investigation.

Provincial commissioner, Lt Gen Mmamonnye Ngobeni welcomed the arrest. “You can run but you cannot evade the long arm of the law. I also want to encourage the community to keep us informed about the whereabouts of wanted criminals in their areas,” she said.
