Add your memories to tree of light

Lights will also be on sale at the three-day Hospice Fair in Craigieburn

As the year draws to an end, often your thoughts turn to your loved ones who have died, or those who are very ill and unlikely to see another year through.

Remember them by purchasing a light bulb to be hung on the Hospice tree of light.

“Your support is important to us, as it enables us to continue the free palliative nursing care for the people who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses in the huge community that we serve,” said Khanya Hospice CEO, Neil McDonald.

“People are encouraged to support Hospice by purchasing a globe or two, which can be in memory of a mother, father, child, family member, friend, colleague, beloved pet or just to give thanks for the joy of being alive.

People are also offered the opportunity to write a message to the loved one and hang it on the tree for all the read and see.”

Buy globes from any Hospice shop or do an EFT and Hospice staff will put the globes in. You can write your message and leave it at the shops.

Lights will also be on sale at the three-day Hospice Fair in Craigieburn from Friday, 27 November to Sunday, 29 November. “We are going to have a long wire fence at the fair where we will hang the messages for all to see and read.

At Hospice House, our garden will also be made up with hanging globes.

There is Carols by Candlelight at Umkomaas Primary School on Monday, 7 December at 6pm, where we will also sell lights and at that ceremony, we will officially switch on the trees of lights in our garden that will be on every evening until 4 January.”
