All Toti shoebox pledges filled

Project co-ordinator thanks the generous community.

THE community’s support of the Santa Shoebox Project has resulted in Toti reaching its target of 531 boxes.

“The Toti drop off was a huge success this past weekend, largely due to the generosity of the community. We were able to reach our target of 531 boxes and had so many extras, we were able to help Durban Central drop off cover some of their shortfall,” said project co-ordinator, Liana Erlank.

She thanks everyone who pledged a box. “A big thank you to the staff at Toyota who pledged 138 boxes, Remax who did 84 and Amanzimtoti Primary 280. To all the volunteers who gave up their free time to assist in this truly worthy cause and Sam and Wimpie Botha from Clearwater Spur for sponsoring our lunch.”

With ‘giving for good’ as this year’s theme, the heartwarming Santa Shoebox Project aims to collect festive season gifts for children from vulnerable social backgrounds. Over the past nine years, 456,004 ‘gifts of joy’ have placed a smile on many faces of youngsters at orphanages, children’s homes and care centres across the country, and as far as Namibia.
