Fireworks season heralds animal dinner fund time

People who wish to contribute to the fund can have a short message on behalf of a pet printed in the SUN.

With festive season decorations going up in the stores, you know it’s that time of the year when the Toti public can help feed stray animals housed at Toti SPCA by supporting the annual Animal Christmas Dinner Fund.

“Once again Guy Fawkes Day and the festive (fireworks) season is looming – festive for some but not for others,” said fund co-ordinator, Marlene Prinsloo. “The suffering of those who cannot speak for themselves starts. The SPCA is inundated with stray animals at this time of the year. It is an immense task and they rely on donations to feed and house these animals.”

People who wish to contribute to the fund can have a short message on behalf of a pet printed in the SUN.

The fund’s contributions go towards food for the homeless, abandoned and destitute animals that are housed by the SPCA. A record amount of R25,000 was raised last year and Toti SPCA hopes to match or surpass this.

Send donations either to Toti SPCA or c/o M Prinsloo, 601 Strandburg, PO Box 312, Amanzimtoti, 4125. Please note, cheques must be made out to Toti SPCA.

Alternatively, make a direct deposit into Toti SPCA’s bank account. Details are: Standard Bank Prospecton, branch code: 057827, account number: 053211189. Put the reference as ‘Christmas’ so the SPCA knows where to allocate the funds and email the amount and your message to strandburg@lantic.net or fax to 031-903-7918.

“I will kickstart the fund with a donation of R200 – in memory of Misty and Honey and all my beloved pets,” said Marlene.

Toti SPCA also appeals to the public to make use of its boarding facilities. To book, contact 031-904-2424/5 or email info@spcatoti.co.za.

The public can also make use of its Christmas wrapping service at all Toti malls and shopping centres over the festive period.
