Prince St needs traffic circle

Motorists face a frustrating task each day

EDITOR – Motor vehicle drivers exiting Prince Street in Athlone Park, face a frustrating task each day as they try to enter Dickens Road.

Dickens Road now has to contend with the relentless flow of traffic off and on the N2 heading to and from the Arbour Crossing area and the businesses situated in the AECI area. The small Pick n Pay is located in Prince Street, as well as Umbogintwini Primary School, not to mention the many residents who live in the area and use Prince Street as the main thoroughfare.

A four-way stop needs to be implemented or a traffic circle (which is common practice in Durban North), as a matter of urgency. Another area of concern is a faded pedestrian crossing with no sign, across Dickens Road. There are school children, among others, who try and cross this busy road and no-one seems to be aware or even care in their haste to get to their destination.
