Skills audit to create city database

The audit will be conducted in all 103 wards.

ETHEKWINI Municipality will launch a community skills audit project at Durban City Hall on Thursday, 1 October.

The audit, which will be conducted in all 103 wards, will use unemployed youth to document skills and competencies within communities in order for the municipality to create a database for existing local skills and identify gaps that may need to be addressed.

“The database will be used to identify existing educational qualifications and skills in the community and provide an analysis of further education and training needs, to develop the skills we need to grow the economy.

The municipality is committed to assisting the people of eThekwini unlock their potential and develop them into a qualified and professional workforce, especially unemployed youth and small businesses. This will improve employment and business development,” said eThekwini Municipality’s communications head,Tozi Mthethwa.

Residents are requested to participate in the skills audit by registering on the municipal skills database.
