CCPO net closes on criminals

Further investigation revealed two were wanted for housebreaking.

The Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) subdued a number of criminals in the past week.

According to CCPO operations manager, Leon Joone, a thief was caught in bushes in Beach Road on Tuesday, 29 September, after attempting to break into Alente Lodge in Inyoni Crescent. “The CCPO guard posted at Toti Cabanas assisted with apprehending the man,” he said.

Two men were caught by the CCPO on Monday morning, 28 September with suspected stolen copper cables. They were handed over to Toti SAPS for investigation.

“On Wednesday morning, 23 September we received a call about two suspicious men in a vacant house in Marshall Road in Athlone Park.”

Leon responded with supervisor Michael Mhkize. With assistance from Metro Police dog handler Shaun Jooste, the two men were caught and found in possession of dagga. They were taken to Toti SAPS.

Earlier in the day, a pedestrian was robbed by four men in Winklespruit. No case was opened, but the CCPO took the four men who were caught to Toti detectives, where further investigation revealed two were wanted for housebreaking and they were arrested.

“Thanks to Blue Security, ET Rapid Response and Chubb Security for working together with the CCPO,” said Leon.
