CCPO net closes on criminals

A member of the public identified socks the man was wearing as those stolen.

Two robbers were netted by the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) in two separate incidents.

CCPO operations manager, Leon Joone said supervisor Michael Mkhize spotted a man being chased by a complainant in Old Main Road on Sunday, 13 September after the thief was disturbed in his house.

“The man was apprehended and a follow-up investigation led to the recovery of two bicycles. A laptop stolen by the man was sold and police are investigating the whereabouts of a second stolen laptop. Thanks to the SAPS who assisted.”

In a separate incident a man was apprehended in Everglade Road, Athlone Park on Wednesday, 16 September in possession of suspected stolen clothes, a screwdriver and knife.

“A member of the public identified socks the man was wearing as those stolen in a break-in at Twini Soccer Club the day before.”

Further investigation positively linked the man to a housebreaking in Wavecrest Road in 2012 through fingerprints.
