Spring heralds changes at Toti golf course

100 trees will be planted on Saturday, 19 September.

A LOT has been happening at the Amanzimtoti Country Club and Conservancy since the arrival of Spring and Arbour Month.

According to the conservancy’s Ted Holden, the club is celebrating several milestones, among them its 100th birthday this year.

A new golf practice range has been established and is now functioning well, a facility much-needed for the Toti area.
The early Spring rains will further help to green the course.

To also add to the commemorations, the conservancy section has already taken advantage of Spring, and planted a 100 new trees in what is termed, an indigenous forest. These trees were grown in the nursery at the club.

To join in with this initiative, the 1st Umbogintwini Scout Group will be adding another 100 trees to the forest on Saturday,19 September. The tree planting by Scouts and Cubs forms part of their programme of conserving the environment.

The conservancy is also anticipating donations by members of the club’s golfing fraternity to cover the cost of 20 bags of of 50dm3 compost which were purchased to assist these new trees with good growth.
