EDITOR – Is it just me or are South Africans becoming a really surly bunch?
It dawned on me the other day while out shopping that, as a nation, we don’t smile and have the same, warm bearing that we used to.
Does anyone recall how Durbanites, for starters, were always known for its warmth – which had nothing to do with the weather. The people always smiled and seemed approachable.
Nowadays you’re lucky not to get scowled at just for breathing, ever mind asking for directions or excusing yourself as you pass someone who is in your way while shopping.
