Think wisely about getting pets

Older people also need to think about how their pet will fit into their future if they downsize.

EDITOR – Why do pensioners insist on getting kittens or puppies when there are so many animal organisations which have older spayed/neutered pets up for adoption?

When you bring an animal into your home, remember it will be a long-term commitment.

The pet will need to be innoculated, spayed or neutered, dewormed, bathed, fed and watered and a comfortable and safe home provided. Think before you adopt a pet – is your garden secure and large enough? Is there a reliable person to look after my pet if I am not available to do so? Can I afford vet treatment if my pet needs it?

Older people also need to think about how their pet will fit into their future if they downsize.

Note that Animal Action does not pay vet bills for sick pets, any operations, deworming or flea meds. We do offer discounted spaying /neutering and vaccinations to those in need.

Also remember I am still collecting bric-a-brack and good second hand clothing to sell to enable us to assist needy pet owners.

If you can help with goods to sell, either call me to collect or drop off at Kings Midas, 319 Kingsway, Amanzimtoti which will act as a collection point. Cash donations are always welcome too, but either pay direct to Dr Nick Bangay (Animal Action Cat Fund account) or Dr Mick Hoole (AA Hay a/c 2)

May God bless all who have donated so far, a huge thank you, now go and hug your pet and have a ‘pawsome’ day.
