Man in ICU after stabbing

When his son-in-law went to help, he was stabbed in the chest.

A home owner is still in ICU after being stabbed in the chest by an intruder in his Adams Road house in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 1 September.

His father-in-law, who did not wish to be named, was also stabbed twice in the back of the head after scuffling with the thief.

At about 11pm on Monday night, the man gained access to their property by making a hole in the wire fence.

“He put off the mains switch on the DB board, which is outside the house,” said the 79-year-old man, who resides in a granny flat on the property.

“We put the power back on and saw him leave through the hole.”

They patched up the hole and went to bed.

“At about 2am the power went off again. I went to put it back on and he attacked me from behind.”

In the scuffle the pensioner was stabbed twice in the back of his head and cut on the thumb. The intruder threw him down an embankment.

When his son-in-law went to help, he was stabbed in the chest, puncturing his lung, before the intruder fled.
