Experience a ‘Dance Xplosion’

Production pushes dancers to the limit.

DURBAN University of Technology’s Drama and Production Studies department presents a contemporary dance entitled, Xplosion at the Courtyard Theatre from Tuesday to Wednesday, 25 to 27 August.

This spirited production is exciting, challenging and explores new boundaries inspired by modern contemporary dance, hip-hop, music, pantsula with a sound track edited by music lecturer Richardt Wissink.

The principal purpose of the annual dance drama is to create work of an excellent standard that is identifiable with and indigenous to Durban, KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa.

This vibrant production explores the relationship between movement and brain science and pushes the dancers to their limit by making their bodies move far beyond their ‘norm’.

Xplosion tells a story using rhythm of music, costume, scenery, projection and simply expressing ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, harmony and dynamics.
