Armed robbery trio nabbed on N2

It is believed they were involved in a number of other robberies in the area.

Quick response and teamwork between a member of the public, Metro Police and the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) led to the arrest of three armed robbers on the N2 highway on Friday, 14 August.

According to CCPO operations manager, Leon Joone, he received a call from Gary van Sluis to say he saw three robbers likely to be responsible for a spate of robberies walking on the N2 highway towards Umgababa.

“I contacted Shaun Jooste of Metro Police and we jammed the three men in and apprehended them,” said Leon. “We recovered a bag, cellphone and money they had just stolen from a complanant, as well as two knives.

It is believed they were involved in a number of other robberies in the area.”
