A couple were robbed after they stopped to change a tyre after hitting a rock placed on the N2 freeway near Umgababa on Thursday, 30 July at about 4.30pm.
“It is alleged a motorist and his girlfriend were driving along the N2 freeway when he suddenly drove over a rock placed on the freeway which caused a tyre to burst and he subsequently stopped the vehicle. As he attempted to change the tyre, he was approached by three men who held him at gunpoint. The couple were robbed of their cellphones, handbag, cash and jewellery,” said provincial police spokesman Maj Thulani Zwane.
