Apply for a health bursary

Bursaries are available in various health sciences related fields of study.

THE department of health is promoting careers in health sciences and is offering provincial bursaries in 2016.

Bursaries are available in the following fields of study, medicine, dietetics, radiography (diagnostic and ultrasound), occupational therapy, audiology, pharmacy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, optometry and health promotion.

Applicants must:

* Reside in eThekwini.

* Meet the training needs of the district where they reside.

* Submit proof of application to a tertiary institution and CAO and his/her academic record from the university or grade 11.

* Applicants must be financially needy. Applications will be considered on a sliding scale in terms of income.

* All successful candidates will be required to sign a year-for-year work back agreement to serve in the eTthekwini district.

* Supportive identity documents of both parents, payslip, death/divorce certificate and sworn affidavit to be attached stating the legal guardian or marital status of parents.

Bursary applications forms can be collected from the Human Resource Office at all government hospitals, clinics or community health centres. Due to the volume of applications received only successful applications will be notified.

Applicants must sign when receiving and when returning the application form to the same institution where the form was obtained. No posted application will be considered, but should be delivered by hand.

Closing date for applications is Monday, 31 August.

The department reserves the right to further verify the authenticity of information provided. Failure to comply with the above directives will lead to disqualification of an application.
