Toti WI to collect blankets for PRC

PRESIDENT of Amanzimtoti Women’s Institute, Muriel Hartwig welcomed all members at the general meeting on Tuesday, 14 July.

Operation Bobbi Bear thanked members for toiletries.

The charity for August is Pregnancy Resource Centre and blankets will be collected. Members your help will be appreciated.

Members are thanked for returning trophies, all bright and shiny.

Every year the ‘Friendship Trophy’, a silver plated tray donated by Vic and Elsie Woodhouse in 1946, is given to a member who is helpful, kind and dedicated to the women’s institute Her name will be engraved on the tray.

Mrs Bridgeman’s memorial fund donated money to two deserving students to graduate as chefs at top hotels . The late Mrs Bridgeman started the women’s institute in Natal.

As it is Amanzimtoti Women’s Institute’s 80th birthday in September, members are asked to take along an item for the hamper which will be raffled at the August meeting.

Sister Wendy Pickering was the speaker from Khanya Hospice, a very dedicated, kind and caring person. We thank her for giving us her precious time and talk. Sister Wendy explained how Hospice helps patients to remain at home supported and cared for by their loved ones in their own familiar environment. Hospice also provide appliances to make nursing at home easier. We were encouraged to learn of the extent to which Hospice give to society. They will have our support whenever possible.
